Fahrenheit 451: Banned Books

Books have been banned across the country for a multitude of reasons- from sexual content to saying the Lord’s name in vain. Whether novels are being banned from classrooms or state libraries, this reminds us of one particular book: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.

In this episode, hosts Birdi and Bella talk about Bradbury’s classic and why this novel’s message is important not only because of its core themes of censorship and big government but also to the book-banning world. How does Bradbury’s message relate to the censorship we see today? What are the differences between restriction and banning? How does book banning affect public conversation and views?

We spoke to librarians and students to answer these questions in this episode of “Banned Books”.
