Boston on day 29 of no rain

By Birdi Diehl

Boston is now on its 29th consecutive day without measurable rainfall and sunny, warm temperatures have become a problem.

Deb Oliphant, a tourist from South Carolina, was visiting Boston on vacation with her partner. She enjoyed the sunny Boston weather and saw how different it was from her home.
“Oh yes, we’re hot and humid,” said Oliphant. “This feels wonderful.”

The lack of rainfall is cautionary to how the Boston foliage could change faster than normal, impacting the tourist season. Christopher Brown, a New England resident of 5 years, has not noticed a change in the weather.
“Yeah, I’d say the summers have gotten wetter,” said Brown. “Like last Summer, it rained every weekend for 3 or 4 months.”

Alen, a Massachusetts resident, noticed not only the lack of rainfall but also the warmer winters.

“The winters are much milder and besides that, not much of a change,” said Alen. “The climate change is basically a problem I guess. The carbons. We can’t go back but it’s going to take time. It was cold this morning, so.”

The National Weather Service predicts rainfall today, ending the now 29-day stretch. Officials say that it still could not be enough rain to be beneficial.
